One of the best British television dramas in recent memory returns for a second season (and let’s not even discuss the unfortunate American remake, “Gracepoint”). If you haven’t seen Season 1, do yourself a favor. Find it. Watch it. The second season finds Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (the astounding Olivia Colman) and the citizens of Broadchurch dealing with the discoveries from the end of Season 1.10 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, on BBC America.

GRACEPOINT_FIN10_article_story_largeEver since the Fox network announced this American remake of the British mystery series “Broadchurch,” the biggest question has been … why? “Broadchurch” creator Chris Chibnall is an executive producer of “Gracepoint,” but “Gracepoint” has a different show runner and chief writer, and different ending has been promised. Both shows share a star (David Tennant) and story line (about the murder of young boy in a small seaside town). But, like George Sluizer’s two versions of “The Vanishing,” if you’ve seen the haunting original, how can the remake possibly live up to it?
