Shonda Rhimes’ twisty political drama started season six with the one-two punch of the results of a Presidential election followed by the death of one character, possibly at the hands of another major one (trying to avoid names, so I won’t be accused of spoilers). I think it’s time Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her Gladiators to get on the case. 9:01 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, on ABC.

Also: It’s season finale time for “Alone” at 9 p.m. on the History channel (followed by a reunion special); a junior edtion of “MasterChef” premieres at 8 p.m. on Fox; and frankly, my dear, “Gone with the Wind” is on TCM at 9 p.m.

1tvscandal_tzrWhat does creator Shonda Rhimes have in store for Olivia Pope and her gladiators to close the series’ fifth season? I don’t have a clue. And what does creator Shonda Rhimes — who does this sort of thing so very well — have in store for the fourth-season ender of this twisty, political soap opera? Surely nothing as devastating as the loss of a major character on “Grey’s Anatomy” a couple weeks back, but you never know what Rhimes has up her sleeve for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her gladiators. You’ll just have to watch to find out. Season finale, 9 p.m. Thursday, May 14, on ABC.

writersroomThis fun series that looks at the inner workings of other shows is back for a second season and is once again hosted by Academy Award-winning writer Jim Rash. This season we’ll get to look at the making of “House of Cards,” “The Good Wife,” “Sons of Anarchy” and, for tonight’s premiere, “Scandal.” Gee, do you think they’ll discuss last night’s finale? Season premiere, 9 p.m. Friday, April 18, on the Sundance channel.

For the return of this involving, additive (and OK., sometimes soapy) political drama, Olivia Pope (Emmy-nominee Kerry Washington) and her team of gladiators at Pope & Associates must cope with the big revelation from last season’s finale. The season premiere is appropriately titled “It’s Handled.” 10 p.m. Thursday on ABC.scandal_season_2
